Univerzitná knižnica je centrálnym knižnično-informačným pracoviskom
Technickej univerzity v Košiciach. Jej poslaním je informačné
zabezpečenie vedeckého výskumu a pedagogického procesu na TUKE.
Slúži aj ako vzdelávacie pracovisko v rozsahu svojej špecializácie
a poskytuje pravidelné školenia knižnično-informatickej výchovy pedagógom
a študentom univerzity, ako aj záujemcom z iných pracovísk
a knižníc na Slovensku. Je teda zrejmé, že budova je predurčená na
odovzdávanie vedomostí a informácií študentom a širokej verejnosti.
Naším návrhom rozširujeme túto jej hlavnú úlohu, pretože knižnici
pridávame možnosť odovzdávať informácie aj náhodným okoloidúcim
prostredníctvom aktívnej fasády. V návrhu ju tvorí rolovacie plátno,
na ktoré budú spätnou projekciou premietané live informácie o dianí
v meste a širokom okolí, informácie o počasí, eventuálne platená reklama,
ktorá by mohla celý projekt fi nancovať. Plátno bude upevnené na
lanách po jeho stranách. Vzhľadom na to, že ide o silný architektonický
prvok budovy knižnice, nebude stále v aktívnej polohe. V prípade nepriaznivého
počasia alebo zámeru užívateľa ho bude možné zrolovať
(„zneviditeľniť“). Projekt je fi nančne nenáročný (aj sám fi nancovateľný)
a zároveň efektívny a účelný.

The university library is the central library and information institute of
Technical University in Kosice. The purpose of the library is to provide
information for scientifi c research and the educational process in TUKE.
Services are offered to teachers and students of TUKE. The library also
serves as an educational institute within the scope of its specialisation
and provides regular trainings of library and information education for
TUKE, as well as for interested persons from other institutes and libraries
in Slovakia. It is thus evident that the building is designed to deliver
knowledge and information to students and to the general public.
Through the proposal we aim to extend its ability and its major task
by adding the possibility of providing the information to random passers-
by by means of an active facade. This, according to the proposal,
consists of a scrollable canvas on which live information of the course
of events in the city and its surroundings will be displayed by back projection,
as well as information on the weather or paid advertising that
could fi nance the entire project. The canvas will be fi xed by ropes on
the canvas sides. However, because it is a strong architectural element
of the building of the library, the canvas will not always be in its active
position and in case of bad weather or the intention of the user, it will
be possible to roll up the canvas (to make it “invisible”). The project is
fi nancially undemanding (also potentially self-fi nancing) and yet effective
and functional.
